“It begins the day Anna finds a child’s doll on the student lounge floor. When it’s claimed by Able, the school drug dealer Anna becomes determined to learn more about the mysterious boy with the military haircut, and deep blue eyes”

First of all, The Storyteller is not the book for you if you’re under 16, as frequent adult themes run throughout.

Anna is a teenage girl, going through the stress of school, finding collage, exams, friends, pressure from her parents and like that wasn’t enough the mysterious Able makes his way into her life. She is completely and utterly infatuated with him, for reasons unknown her, as she develops stalker like tendencies. He then sucks her into his life, and all thats wrong with it. Though she can’t help herself.

I thought this book was extremely well written, and a captivating read. Even with some of the dark themes, there were happy lighter points in the book. I thought it was very clever how the book did not have a direct protagonist, but still switched narrative. The main one being the lives of Anna and Able, the other being the story Able tells has written and is telling his younger sister, Micha. And i have to say there were some extremely good twists.

The only issue with this book, i would say, would be some of the darker themes, such as drug use and alcohol. And it was a fairly gloomy book in area, though still cleverly written and enthralling all the way to the last page. However one part of the book i felt was fairly unnecessary and didn’t need to be there, though I can’t tell you what part because i would give it all away.

I would give this book 4 out of five 5 stars, a recommend it to older reads.
